This painting was inspired by the patterns of shifting light and shade as clouds pass over the mountains and headlands, watching a fast moving cloud turn into a sudden downpour. I painted on the floor on raw canvas. The canvas was my tool as I sculpted it into landscapes, allowing water and paint to move through its valleys and peaks. It was a slow meditative process. I sat and watched and waited. Colours became muted as they soaked into the fibres of the raw canvas. Time, medium and material slowly became a painting.
