I found a pebble with the most beautiful imperfect concentric rings, an endless loop of harmony. It’s in my studio. I wanted to paint how those rings feel to me. They reminded me of a particular childhood memory, of my father trying to teach my sisters and I how to skim pebbles. My sisters and I searched for perfect smooth pebbles and tried to imitate his deft sideways throw.
