Lia and Doris on the blue sofa, oil on canvas, 100x100cm, 2024.
Exhibited in ‘Translucence’ solo exhibition with ArtNetDlr, Dublin, 2024. Lia has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder. Its many symptoms include unstable and painful joints, pale, delicate skin and chronic fatigue. Lia’s favourite colour is yellow. Doris, our elder rescue lurcher, is watching over her. The blue sofa predates them both. It expands and stretches in a dream-like way. I painted fatigue as Lia described it to me and as I imagine how it feels.
