From the ‘Samhain’ collection, inspired by Irish mythology about Halloween. Samhain marks the division between the lighter and darker parts of the year, when the gap between our world and the otherworld is at its thinnest. The people of ancient Ireland believed that certain trees were sacred portals into the otherworld of faeries and spirits.

Each year, I watch a tree in my garden.  After weeks of gradual change, one day, it is suddenly transformed, dipped in crimson for one perfect singing moment before the rain and wind come and the branches are stripped bare. I wanted to honour the intensity and fragile glowing beauty of that fleeting moment of transformation, the last days of Autumn before Winter.

The dimensions are the image size only. For prints on paper, there is a border of approximately 2.5cm for signing. Please do not order your frame until you receive your print. We recommend framing behind non-reflective art glass.
