I studied literature and writing has always been part of my practice. I use words as a means of understanding and interpreting the world around me. Sometimes I dig and gouge words into wet paint when I paint. These fragments of recorded thoughts sometimes become part of the finished painting. Other times, they are partially or fully buried beneath further layers of paint.
I’m honoured that this painting was selected for the international juried exhibition ‘Art of the World’ with Sasse Museum of Art, L.A. The digital exhibition catalogue is available here. ‘Words are in my head’ was also selected for ‘Art Enriches Life?’ exhibition with The Narrow Space Gallery as part of Clonmel Junction Festival.
